In this episode of The Soul Hum we speak with Malika Lueen Ndlovu who joins us from the wild coast of Kwazulu Natal. We talk spinal archives. Cosmic waters, whales and symbols, numbers, universe, myth and bones. Homecomings. We flow with the conversational waters to the extent that Malika does not read the poems she had prepared and instead retrieves work from her archives with such attunement and grace, you would think it was planned. She shares 3 poems: Spinal secrets, Cleansing and Instruments.

With this level of mastery it is no wonder that Malika’s words and performances have featured on pages and stages across South Africa and the world for over 25 years. She has published two plays, five solo poetry collections, co-founded and curated multimedia poetry events for various festivals and platforms, such as the Africa Centre's Badilisha Poetry X- Change podcast, the herstorical Cape Town-based women writers' collectives WEAVE and the And The Word Was Woman Ensemble. She is an applied arts practitioner promoting healing through creative expression, she is a member of Sp(i)eel Art Therapies Collective networked to the broader SA Arts in Psychosocial Support community of practice.

Malika Lueen uses her poetry as a way of breathing. Liberating memory through her body and her voice. An instrument in tune, and attune with the deep soul tides. She dives from enchanted giggles into deep waters so quickly that by the time she mentions that she relates to whales as her kin, your whole body knows exactly what she means!
